Cuddie Springs Archaeological Dig
Cuddie Springs is an ancient lake located near Carinda, 400kms west of Sydney. Animals recorded from Cuddie Springs include giant kangaroos and goannas, thousands of stone tools, bones and grinding stones have also been found. Archaeologists from Sydney University travel to Cuddie Springs annually to work on the site and investigate the areas prehistory. “Digging down into a dry lake bed you’d never guess that you’re about to encounter one of the most extraordinary animal graveyards in the world” (Judith Furby, School of Archaeology Sydney University).
