Registration of Dogs & Cats

Last modified: June 1, 2007 - 9:19 AM

Information regarding the registration of Dogs and Cats in the Walgett Shire.

Lifetime registration is compulsory for all cats and dogs, that are bought, sold, given/received as gifts or that have transferred ownership on or after 1st July 1999.

Animals must be microchipped prior to being registered. This can be done at your local vet or by Council's regulatory officer.

To register the animal, contact Council's Administration Office (77 Fox Street, Walgett) to obtain a Lifetime Registration form.  Complete the form and return it to Council with the correct fees.  Substantially reduced registration fees apply to desexed animals when the registration form is accompanied by a confirmation document from a vet.

Council will subsequently enter the information in the NSW Companion Animals Register, and provide a confirmation document indicating the animal has been registered.
