2007 - 2008 SOE Report

Walgett Shire Council participated in the development of the Namoi Regional State of the Environment Report for 2007-2008.
The report was prepared by Hyder Consulting on behalf of the Namoi Catchment Management Authority (CMA) using data sourced from government agencies, participating Councils and the CMA.
Previously Walgett Shire Council has prepared its own annual State of the Environment report, so this is the first time that it has participated in the development of a regionally based report. Benefits that have arisen from a regional report include:
- Getting a catchment wide view of environmental indicators and trends.
- Being able to compare environmental issues within Walgett Shire against those in similar shires.
- Report preparation was funded by the CMA thereby reducing potential preparation costs.
- Using a consultant company provided independent specialist knowledge.
