CarindaLast modified: November 22, 2007 - 3:29 PM
The town of Carinda A popular meeting place in the village is the Carinda Hotel. There is a 12-hole golf course that provides a challenge to visitors and locals alike. A well maintained town swimming pool is a constant source of relief during summer, while the nearby hot artesian bore helps ease those achi9ng muscles in the cooler months. Perhaps Carinda's biggest novel drawcard is the police station which was accidentally built in the wrong place. Originally meant for Quirindi, the station plays an important part in the village history. The Macquarie and Castlereagh Rivers and the Marthaguy creek all meander through Carinda before flowing into the Barwon River. These waterways provide wonderful inland fishing and camping holidays and landholders generally agree to courteous requests for entry to their properties. The Macquarie Marshes, which are under the care of the National Parks & Wildlife Service, are 15kms north of Carinda. The area is popular with birdwatching groups, there are great opportunities for recreation and sightseeing at the Marshes. Contact details | |||||||||||||
