CollarenebriLast modified: January 5, 2007 - 2:19 PM
The town of Collarenebri One of the best-kept secrets in north west New South Wales, this small town provides curious travellers with a colourful array of surprise. The unique and well preserved Aboriginal Cemetary will give you goose bumps, as will the local guide's explanation. A rare and delightful experience, it is a chance to step back in time and soak up Indigenous history at its best. Many of the buildings in the main street date back almost 100 years and hours can be spent examining the detail and chatting to the locals about their town. Considered by many as one of the best inland fishing locations in Australia, there are plenty of easily accessible fishing spots along the Bawron River near the Collarenebri township. The weir across the river, 500 metres from town, provides for excellent upstream boating and great down stream fishing. Bring you camping gear and sleep on the banks of the river!
